Energy Efficiency Rebates

On July 1, 2009 the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission transferred responsibility of the energy efficiency programs formerly run by  the Hawaiian Electric Utilities to a new energy efficiency program administrator.

Over the past thirteen years, more than 6,700 solar water heating systems, more than 3,300 high efficiency electric water heaters and more than 20,700 efficient showerheads were installed on the Big Island.

These programs have helped to:

• Reduce the amount of imported oil
• Reduce carbon and other emissions
• Protect our environment
• Lower participating customers' electric bills
